Friday 5/18
Big Sam's Funky Nation
Big Sam's Funky Nation is a driving force of urban
funk. Ryan White, of the Oregonian, says the band is
tight enough (and hot enough) to turn coal into a
diamond! The band is led by trombone powerhouse, Big
Sam Williams, formerly the trombonist for the Dirty
Dozen Brass Band, who the San Francisco Chronicle calls
the top man on the slide trombone in the birthplace of
jazz. Big Sam refuses to let the audience sit still.
Between the band's solos, Big Sam's signature dance
moves and his distinctive trombone riffs, the energy
level is high voltage when this band takes the stage!

The Rainmakers
are back for Round 2
The Rainmakers return after 14 years with a true return
to form: traditional rock n'roll about all the non-
traditional subjects politics, turpentine, religion,
friendship, delivering newspapers, dying, dogs, driving
in the snow, going down swinging, and one about girls.
Sense of humor intact, and sense of heartbreak within
reach, the Rainmakers deliver it all with meat-and-beer
guitars and drums. And a little piano. This is real,
this is fun. Real fun. Original members Bob
Walkenhorst, Pat Tomek, and Rich Ruth are joined by
Jeff Porter on guitar and piano.
