Frank on - Tommy Castro

The first time I met Tommy, I saw him walking down the middle of the street, going to Knuckleheads.

His bus was already there, and I saw this guy dressed in black walking across the railroad tracks, pulling his suitcase behind him. I pulled up next to him and said, "Tommy?".
"Yeah!" he said. "I'm almost there!".

It turns out he'd caught a cab to bring him to the club. They got caught by a train crossing the street here, and the cabdriver apparently didn't know how to backtrack over the bridge to get around it. So they'd sat there, with the meter running. Tommy was on the phone with his band, and knew he was just a block or so away from the club. He finally thought, "This is ridiculous!", paid the driver, and stood waiting about a half hour for the train to get past.

I offered him a ride, but he turned it down, as he was so close.

I said to myself, "Now that's a REAL blues man, walking across the tracks with his suitcase in his hand, trying to make it to his next gig!"

since that time Tommy and his band has played at Knuckleheads 3 more times and
I have gotten to know Tommy more each time. and on this this last Jan Blues Cruise got to know him even better Tommy a fun guy with a great sense of humor and has come to be one of our favorite bands at Knuckleheads
