Tapwater, Comedy,
Annalee and the Lucky So & So's,
& Cryin' Out Loud @ Knuckleheads!

Hope you're enjoying this BEAUTIFUL Labor Day weekend! Though it's the unoffical end of summer, we're going to keep the heat turned up at Knuckleheads this week with some great music to stretch out your holiday just a little bit longer!

Tuesday night is Comedy Night at Knuckleheads. Get over your back to work blahs with some great laughs! The show starts at 7pm.

Annalee and the Lucky So-n-Sos
Thursday night, you won't want to miss Annalee and the Lucky So-n-Sos. Annalee and the Lucky So-n-Sos bring back a bygone era of swing and jump music, when it was OK to throw your dance partner around the floor or hold them so close that they started to steam. They can make an evening swing or simmer depending on the mood. This show starts at 8PM, and there's NO COVER CHARGE! What have you got to loose, besides your "the week's too long" blues?

Ana Popovic
In 2006, Ana was invited for the legendary ‘Blues Cruise 2006’. She’s the first European artist ever called upon to play this prestigious cruise with the original band. Nominated as 'Blues Artist of the Year' by the readers of 'BluesWax Magazine', Ana also received a 6-time nomination for the 'Living blues awards 2006'. She's selected in categories as; 'Best blues DVD of 2005', 'Best Live Performer', 'Best Female Blues Artist' and 'Most Outstanding Musician (Guitar)'. You don't want to miss this repeat performance at Knuckleheads this Friday night!
Friday night's show starts at 8:30PM, with special guest Tapwater.
Who is TapWater? TapWater is an American jam rock experience out of San Diego that blends rock, funk, Latin, jazz, bluegrass, country, blues, and pop into music that makes you happy. While their influences range from Pink Floyd and Willie Nelson to Tito Puente and Stevie Wonder, TapWater’s sound captures the smooth sophistication of Steely Dan, the vibrant color of the Grateful Dead, and the feelgood flavor of the Doobie Brothers. Don't miss this rare Kansas City show!

Saturday, we'll have our fun and fabulous Open Jam from 1pm till 8pm.

Then will come a true country treat, when
James Hand
takes the stage at 9pm.

Though he's been making powerful original music for nearly four decades, James Hand has unjustly remained one of American music's secret treasures -- a local legend, modestly plying his craft in countless smoky dives and dancehalls to a slowly widening circle of admirers. What he does, he does straight from his heart, taking the hard-won lessons that life and love have taught him and pouring them into his songwriting and performing.

"I don't sing like anybody," he admits with a shy, sly smile, "and I don't look like Kenny Chesney." He's right: he sings like nobody but himself, his phrasing drawing out the pain and humor of his lyrics with an unpredictable yet soulful series of tiny inflections. His songs are equally mysterious and unclassifiable. While they are noticeably rich with the influences of his heroes -- classic country architects like Hank, Lefty, and Ernest -- Hand's songs are uniquely his, imbued with equal parts gallows humor and the ability to stare unflinchingly into life's darkest corners.

When he's not onstage, Hand has carved out a niche for himself as a horse trainer. “When it comes to horses," he says, "people act like it’s some big deal – like this whole horse whispering thing. But I’ll tell you something: you can whisper to ‘em, you can get down on your knees and act like ‘em, but the horse knows you ain’t a horse.” That offhand remark says a lot about James Hand – he knows who he is, and onstage and off he’s the same man: soft-spoken, achingly polite, and genuine.

“In over 30 years of playing country music, I have never, absolutely never seen anyone as unique as James Hand. There is no one like this artist – complex, yet simple. Simply, James Hand is country music, and he has no equivalent.”

Cryin Out Loud
Cryin' Out Loud (formerly Coyote Ugly) is an eastern Kansas area band that has been playing its own blend of swingin' twanged-out garagabilly honkytonkification for a handful of years now around the area in bars and clubs, at weddings and parties, on farms and in pole barns, and in city parks and cafes. The members are all veterans of and represent a diverse and rich lineage in the Lawrence, regional, and in some cases national music scene reaching back through the early 1980's.

There you have it, another great week of fun and music at Knuckleheads Saloon, Kansas City's BEST blues bar and honky tonk! Come on down and join in the fun! You'll be glad you did!
